NEW YORK — A 1-year-old boy whose father said he was kidnapped during a carjacking has been found safe with his mother in Pennsylvania and was never in danger, police sources tell CBS2.
Sources say the boy’s father lied about the child being inside the car when it was stolen early Monday in East Harlem. He eventually came clean when the vehicle turned up empty.
Investigators continue to investigate the alleged carjacking to determine whether that part of the story was true.
Sources say it’s too soon to say whether the father will face charges.
